14 layer Surfer

I think I found my limit on the layering.
14 layers of painted birch.
11" round x 2" deep.

Beautiful, but if you were to create in cardstock you could go on and on and on. I like the realistic foreground against the mandala background.

I think my limit would be 2. but then I don’t have a lot of patience.

Hm, that’s a really good result.

I see some waviness on the sides, intentional or just slight misalignment?

If unintentional and you wanted to keep it aligned, I have done a number of layered mandalas using 1/16" brass rods as registration pins. It’s small enough that you can pin all the layers except the front and conceal the pins easily enough, then you’re just eyeballing one top layer.

Anyway, pins or not: this is really nice, the colors are great.

Waviness is in the design but I like the brass pin idea. Thanks!

That’s gorgeous. I thought it was painted Polish Pottery when I first caught a glimpse of the top photo. My wife would be so envious.

I’m not going to show her this post - she’ll want me to make one and then I’d have to dive down the rabbit hole
