Yeah, sort of like poking your toe into the pool. Works out better once you jump in.

If you are into making seasonal plagues plaque to hang on your door, here is one way without gluing the base sections together (or glue two 16" together - not judging, heh).

Longest I’ve done is just under 4’, but it was an an engrave and cut, and there is (still) an issue where the first pass on the next step does not engrave. Laser simply does not fire. Cuts are fine, but engraves end up with a missing line. This was reported and acknowledged years ago. I had to fill in with a pencil.
