Hi everyone!
I’ve been wanting to share a gift I made for a friend a few years ago. But I totally forgot to take pictures of it at the time, believe it or not, and then she lost it. Once recovered, I finally got a chance to take a few shots. Here it is. It’s an interactive, multi-layered triptych display piece featuring a sliding lid mechanism.
The design focuses on mindfulness and moving forward, split into three distinct panels under a protective, diffused cover.
Design & Features:
Interactive Sliding Lid: The outer frame features a slot for a frosted/translucent acrylic lid. I engraved the sacred Om (ॐ) symbol onto the lid, which perfectly overlays and diffuses the 3D artwork underneath when closed.
The Triptych Layout: Inside, the piece is divided into three sections using a clean, white acrylic frame.
Left Panel: 3D raised lettering that reads: “Your past does not equal your future.”
Center Panel: A beautifully thick, clear/frosted acrylic 3D Om symbol that catches the light perfectly.
Right Panel: 3D raised lettering that reads: “Enjoy every minute of every day.”
Materials Used:
Outer Shadow Box: lightly white painted draftboard.
Inner Backing: Light wood plywood to give a warm contrast to the text.
Inner Dividers: White acrylic.
Lettering & Center Symbol: Frosted acrylic letters individually masked, cut, and layered for a striking 3D pop.
Sliding Top: Translucent frosted acrylic.
All in ⅛”
My friend absolutely loved it! It now sits beautifully on her desk with quotes from her favorite gurus.
