A Steampunk Airship (Part 1)

I’ve liked Steampunk for some years now and suddenly got a bug to make a fantasy airship. Started looking around for plans and, as usual, came up empty-handed. So, I designed my own.

I wanted a lot of ‘lightening holes’ since that seemed it would add a lot of texture and visual interest. Added a dragon’s head to the crown element for a bit of drama. Took a lot of tweaking to get the slots at the right spacing.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with it. I need to solve for the gondola/ship to be suspended from it, but that will be Part 2.

(By the way, the little scrap at the bottom of the tail is just to position it for photos, not a part of the design)

Neat fixing scheme for around the central dowel. That’s a really neat idea and I suspect I shall be stealing it

Lovely airship too, I do like a bit of steampunk

Use it with my blessings! I wanted a radial array of half-sections and it seemed like the most efficient way to get it to work.
