Acacia Cutting Board Engraving

Hi all! I have a cutting board I would like to engrave a last name on using my Aura. The cutting board fits the machine width-wise. However, it has a handle on it and the cutting board would only fit if the handle is facing toward the exhaust in the back of the machine. Can I have it in the machine that way? I removed the honeycomb tray and the board sits perfectly flat. I have the 12x12 rule stuck in my head so even though it fits I am not comfortable hitting that print button! I am very new to this and I am deathly afraid of destroying my new laser cutter and/or burning my house down!

With the machine off, and the cutting board inside - can you move the head all the different directions without it bumping anything? Nothing dragging on the rails or belts? If yes, you should be good to go

I can move it without anything being touched but I did notice a little squeak when I was moving it. Is that normal. I didn’t notice that when I made an ornament the other day. I know, paranoid much? lol

I hope to be a pro at this eventually!

If it is not touching anything you should be fine. Mine squeaks a little when I move it by hand.

I definitely remember treating everything with kid gloves when I first got my :glowforge:
The squeak might just because you’re moving the head by pulling rather than the internal push method…if it doesn’t stick at all I would give it a shot.
