Alert: Obstacle - but print head is just running all the way to the right

For the last 2 days I’ve been getting an Obstacle Alert. No obstacles in the machine. I shut down and restart and sometimes it will return like normal to try to center. It does not successfully center. Instead the print head goes all the way to the right, hits the end of the arm its mounted on, makes a grinding noise and I get the obstacle alert again. Please help. Thanks.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve hit this snag! Could you please try the following to see if it resolves the issue? Turn off your Glowforge (this is important to avoid damage to your unit) Open the lid and, using both hands, gently move the laser arm to the center of the bed Gently move the head under the lid camera Turn your Glowforge back on Let us know how it goes.

Yes, originally I received the “Bumped” warning, then it just switched to obstacle. I did that and it seems to be ready. I also took the opportunity to do the maintenance cleaning - it was pretty grimy inside. I’ve shut down and restarted twice now to make sure it is good, and it seems to be. Thank you for your help. I’ll let you know if for some reason the problem returns.
