Another "Head not found" issue

Ive have a 3 year old GF Plus which really doesnt get used all that much. Over the 3 years maybe twice a month on average.

To start, I will mention that im in the UK. The GF was purchased from GF when they sold directly in the UK.

I was cutting a file the other day and after it was complete I noticed that the very last part had not cut. I didnt think much of it, loaded my next file and set it going. After about 5 minutes I heard the extraction fan stop, the restart, then stop again. I checked the progress of the file online and it said “print Cancelled”. I had not cancelled the print. I went to the machine to find despite running for at least 5 minutes, it had not cut a single thing. Now its just showing as “centering Head” then “Head not found”.

On restarting the machine, the fan spools up as usual, you do not get the usual clicks, it does not home or move any axis at all. There is no noise from the motors to indicate that its trying either.

Everything has been cleaned and every connection checked.

Ive followed everything I can find online about removing the head and checking connections but everything is still the same. The head does not move along the X axis at all. When off, it moves freely by hand.

All axis move freely, all belts are tensioned fine, all pulleys move freely with no wear or unwanted movement.

Ive spoken to GF customer support ( US , ive not had a reply from the UK yet ), who ran through all the usual stuff photos etc back and forth, for them just to send it back to them, in the US , for the to diagnose it before telling me what needs fixing. This is not an option. Sending to the US is ridiculous money and there is no longer anywhere in the UK for service.
They offered me $1000 off a new GF Pro HD, which in the UK are ÂŁ7200 ( over $9000 ), but there is no way I would spend any money on another GF if they only last a couple of years and have no proper support after the fact.

Can anyone advise on what I can try please. Ive got things piling up that I need to get on with.

The way you describe it, it sounds like the power supply might have failed. The cutting issues alone would indicate a dead tube but the other symptoms would not show up if that was the only problem.

I’s certainly not a mechanical issue related to belts and rollers/pulleys.

Thank you for the reply.

I knew it would have nothing to do with the belts/rollers, but went along with it any way.

Is there any way to test the power supply ? As its still supplying power to the pump/fans/LEDs .

No, the power supply itself has multiple outputs, but power is then distributed by several of the other boards.

Regardless, it’s a non-serviceable item.
