How do you delete an artwork step on left side of screen. I have no artwork in glowforge screen but previous file is still showing on left side of screen and when i bring another file in it stays there. Thank you

Odds are that there is still something there. Try doing select all (Ctrl A) then delete if anything is on the screen that should delete it.

Welcome to the forum.
Is the item that is still showing on the dashboard a bit of file that was dragged off the work area? If so, zoom out until you can see it and then select and delete it. You can also choose to create a new blank design which will give you a blank slate to start another project.
