Have some dear and much younger friends expecting their first little one. Bought from the registry but wanted to do more. He is in a band and a writer with a couple titles out and she is an engineer. We know them because of the band so I made some guitar pick month markers and a memory/letters box.
For some background, my parents died rather young (I was still in my 20’s) and I feel I never really got to know them as people, as adults…only ever as parents. I mean that’s not bad but some of the things I cherish most are the letters and cards they wrote.
So with this thought went to work and made this. The memory box has little chips or prompts and the instructions ask them to pick a prompt, write a letter based it then to seal it and date it and never revisit. I wrote that all out on the back of the calendar but it also contained some sappy personal stuff so I didn’t post it here.
The two boxes are the same design, different sizes. Walnut for the small box holding the guitar pick markers and cherry for the box with the prompts to store the letters.
I wasn’t able to attend the shower but met up with them later and they loved it.
I love it! I have done a ‘letters’ box for baby girls in the past where the parents write a letter each year and mail them 18 day before their 18th birthday, one letter at a time…so similar idea and the parents ALWAYS love it! You did a great job on these!
