Bad news - Good news

Bad news is, we lost a tree in the storm :rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Good news is… I’ll now have PLENTY of wood slices to decorate with my new Glowforge! :joy::rofl:image

what kind of tree is it?

I have no idea… probably not useable.

Looks like sideways tree…

Yup, that’s it! :joy:

Looks like all the other trees are sideways, that one is perfectly vertical :stuck_out_tongue:

If it was it with lightening (as it appears), you may find it a very hardened wood now that it has been flash dried.
Translation is it will hold amazingly small detail without chipping.

Several of the best carvings I had ever done came from sections of a branch that had been thunderstruck.
I had to get out the sharp knives and gouges. It was more like a firm sandstone or meerschaum than wood.

Be sure to let us know how it responds to design work.

(Talking about unexpected greatness and having said Thunderstruck allows me to punt this again)

I could tell easier with a better picture of leaves, bark, and seed, but what I can see in the shot it looks like gum.
