Today my colleague asked if I could engrave two belt buckles for his father.
I did a quick try and the look very good:
The buckles are black, the engraving became a copper-gold color.

I used the default LPI: 225, power: 600, speed: 80
The buckle was magnetic so I think it is just powder-coated steel.
