Black LED Acrylic

Posting this as an FYI for those of you who do LED projects. I just ordered some of this new to me Black LED Acrylic to test, but looks like a fun alternative to other opaque acrylic. I saw this featured on this YouTube video for reference, by our own @Geeksmithing. (Profile - Geeksmithing - Glowforge Owners Forum). Yes, this will probably end up being used in a WLED polyhedral. I know, boring right?

Happy to! It was a fun thing to stumble upon this morning! That material is seriously as fun as i made it out to be and I look forward to using it in more upcoming projects. We ended up having to use our CNC to cut the big character panels as the glowforge just wasnt large enough of a work area, but all of the samples and tests were cut using my GF Plus and it was awesome.

The black LED acrylic is neat. I used it in my GF community project hex tile:

… and am using it in another (in process, slow) project.

What I make with it will most likely be way more boring that the actual material itself, but I am fascinated. Acrylics and LEDs are two of my favorite things and I plan on ordering a piece if for nothing else than because it’s so cool. Thanks for the post and for the links.

I used this same stuff from Tap Plastics about 5 years ago. It is terrific.
