Blowing up a Christmas Card

One of the cards I got this year was from a friend who owns a dude ranch in Wyoming. I know the sketch it’s made from means a lot to her, so I decided to see what the Glowforge could do. A scan, some cleanup, and two hours in the laser…

From 5"x7" card stock to a 11"x16" sheet of basswood plywood, I think it’ll be a nice surprise when it shows up in the mail.

What format did you scan the picture in?

I scanned it at 1200 dpi and saved it as an uncompressed PNG just to minimize artifacts.

Nice. What scanner? The real hi-res ones are not easy to find or afford.

It’s just a Canon multifunction printer. I got tired of buying good scanners and having them not support the latest OS update…

I’ll have to check them out again.

We have the big Epson that was ~$200 that prints 17x23 and scans half that.
