Why would I need to convert if purchased as a SVG file -

Welcome to the community!
That is odd. Did you purchase it from the catalog, or a designer online somewhere?
An .svg is a container file - so it can contain both vector (cut or engrave) lines and raster (engrave only) lines. If you’re trying to cut raster lines that might be the issue. Can you post a screenshot of the error you’re getting, and the file you purchased?

There are other file types besides SVG that will work in the Aura, and I have never seen an error that states this is not an SVG. Can you share the error you are getting? Have you contacted the seller to request assistance or the file in a different format such as pdf?
