Luxury! Of course we had it tough…
Yeah a missed chance here.
Should have been “You Had Rocks?”
I got the VIC 20 (as my first computer) and jumped to the Commodore 64.
I actually took a newspaper delivery job (automobile delivery to take over “down routes” that had no local neighborhood carrier) to buy the VIC 20 and then the C-64.
Dropped the route after I got the cassette recorder and the disk drive… Needed to to do something with the C-64. (Kinda like now getting time to use my GF )
They were cooling? Wow, no 3rd degree burns eh?
ZX81 --> C64 --> Kaypro here. The 64 was pretty amazing, although partly because it showed how underpowered a home computer could be and still be useful.
I went like this:
VIC-20 and also Morrow Designs (don’t recall the model, if there was one)
C=64 and also TRS-80 PC6 (I don’t know if this counts as a computer or a smart device)
C=128
A500
A2000
A1200
And then had to join the Windows world.
Before i finally went to PC’s I at least had the decency to go through 10 years of seclusion with no computers (TV, movies, books or newspapers either - though i used to jump the fence at night and go to a local gaming arcade every 6 months or so LOL).
Anyway… we can always rest easy knowing we never sold out to the Apple Dark-side
