I do not have proof grade ply or draft. Will this work with PG acrylic?
Yes, it should. Make sure it’s flat, and completely covers the gridded portion of the tray at the front.

I used 1/4" plywood and it worked very well … and I agree with Jules - as long as it lays flat you should get a terrific result 
Do you get sufficiently dark scores with acrylic?
Don’t know. Should work okay if it’s masked I would think. I’ve never had an issue with it seeing snapmarks on masked acrylic.
No clue myself. In the two plus years I have had a GF, have never scored acrylic.
I did some 3D engraving with the Snapmarks. Worked fine. 
It scored and calibrated.
