Can draftboard be spray painted or painted with acrylic paint BEFORE it gets etched?
Just check the material data sheet on the paint making sure there is no PVC, chrome, etc. that are no-no’s and let it dry thoroughly. Then watch it like a hawk.
Acrylic paint should not be a problem. I would check the spray paint, but I suspect that by the time it is dried it is mostly inert even when burned and the amount vaporized should be negligible, but check the MSDS always.
I have used interior latex paint on draftboard without issues.
I’ve done a lot of spray paint on canvas and the only thing I have noticed is it does tend to leave a very fine layer of dust on the piece when you laser the paint. Keep a brush around and maybe wear a mask when brushing it off.
