Cat Tag

Riff Raff requested a dapper new cat tag, and I figure every dapper gent needs a pocket watch. I was going for a distressed look for the watch face, but wish I got the name a bit more crisp looking. I used spray paint to fill in the engrave, but might try acrylic paint next time.

What a fabulous idea! (And Riff Raff is quite the fellow!) :grinning:

Nice. As for making it more crisp… Seems like this is exactly what two-color acrylic was made for?

Very nice, and not owning any cats are those cat “perches” in the background?

That would definitely be cleaner. I’ve had luck with the spray paint on scored lines, so I thought I’d give it a try here. Anyone seen double sided two-color acrylic?

Yep, those are my art deco cat perches. Riff Raff hasn’t used them yet so I don’t have complete proof of success.

Oh I really like those! (Would be totally wasted on my kitties though…they have no taste.)

Great tag! I wonder if anyone has made a replica of the one in Men In Black yet—that would be cool too.

And wow! Those perches are phenomenal!

how do I get my hands on a tiny galaxy to put in there? Does anyone have an Amazon link?

It’s not the galaxy so much as the tiny alien.

I thought a cat not using something you put a lot of time and/or money into was how you could tell it is a real cat.

That cat looks magical. Like, he needs his own children’s book series where he goes on adventures and solves crimes. And he lives in an old hotel full of odd characters. Or he travels through time and meets famous figures in history and helps them do whatever they’re known for. Can’t you just see Riff Raff helping Winston Churchill and then going for walks with Walt Whitman?

And here I was thinking that a single perch up high like that without a way for the cat to reach it might be the place for all the delicate things you don’t want the cat knocking over or on to the ground.

:rofl::rofl::rofl: I’m not a cat person but I don’t think that is possible. They can leap. However, placing breakable items on the top shelf is a guaranteed method of getting the cat to use it.

Awesome tag! Riff Raff is clearly showing it off. Did you design the cat perches too?

So beautiful. It isn’t easy to get a good picture of a black cat. You managed to highlight things so well to give definition and depth. My poor Cole rarely had a good snap of him. He was all eyes, white whiskers and a flat black blob. Nicely done all the way around.

I wanted to make a memorial tile for a friend that lost a similar black kitty after 16 years . By using gimp and masking all but the very black I was able to bring out tiny differences such as highlights and get a pretty reasonable variation that was still black but also had some texture.
