Catalog Files

Hi all. I am attempting to cut some of the catalog files, but not using proof grade materials. Is there a way that I would be able to adjust slots to fit the wood that I have on hand?

There are tools to scale the entire design but scaling just the slots isn’t going to be feasible.

For more information about precise scaling, check out the help pages:

You can see the heading “scale designs precisely”, that’s what you need.

The entire “learn” section is useful:

Yes to everything @evansd2 said. If your slots are just a tiny bit too small you can also run the cut twice to make it a touch larger.

I have used a file. But usually it is the depth of the cut. If the desired material is 0.15 and you are using wood that is 0.18 it bwill be the depth of the fingers and not the width that will be the problem. I use a needle file to increase the depth when that happens

It depends on the file. If the slots are holes, you can try ungrouping the file, which will separate each hole to be independent of the main object, then you can adjust the holes and regroup. If the file creator separated inner and outer cuts like we’re supposed to, this should be entirely possible to adjust slot holes.

If you’re trying to adjust something that’s built into the main piece (like grooves on the side for joints) and is not a separate cut, that’ll be more difficult since all you can do is scale the object, which would make it harder to match any corresponding pieces.
