Cellulose Acetate safe to engrave?

Hey guys, totally new here and finding my way around. Just ordered my glowforge and super excited to get started. Just wondering if anyone can help, I got a good deal on some small cellulose acetate jewelry parts and wondered if anyone knew if it was safe to use in the glowforge for engraving?..they are 2.5mm thick if it helps?

thanks in advance

I believe itโ€™s non-toxic but it may produce acetic acid (vinegar) when burned, which might not be the best thing for the inside of the Glowforge. Iโ€™m not sure though because none of the MSDSes Iโ€™ve been able to find list combustion products.

Iโ€™d probably try a small piece and see if it smells like vinegar afterwards. If it does, Iโ€™d be wary of doing a lot with it.
