Centering, Homing or Offline & only a week in!

This is where I am with GF. I’ve been spk’g with David at GF but no resolution yet. After I first encountered this issue, I was able to get connected long enough to do one cut, then the cycle started again. I’ve restarted and re-connected so many time now and it just does the same thing. No changes to the network and I hadn’t moved or unplugged the machine. I moved it closer to my modem and David says it was showing a weak connection, but it was only about 3 ft from the modem. Now, the modem is actually sitting on the GF and it’s still cycling through centering and homing. The head moves to the center, then left, and back to the center, but even that takes 30 mins between movements. Right now, it’s humming but that’s all. I’ve tried calibrating but it alternates between offline and busy. I gave the machine a static IP so at least now, it appears to be online more, but still only centering or homing and camera image is an old one. There’s a full sheet of draft board in there now, upside down, for the calibration, but the app image is of the last cut I made. None of the suggestions from David or the forums have worked and I’m so frustrated. This was a lot of money for me and I feel as if I’ve just tossed it on a bonfire. I’ve got materials coming that I can’t do anything with. I don’t know what else to do but send this thing back and I hate that. I was having such fun with this.

You say you tried everything but have you tried using your phone as a hot spot? If that works then it’s your wifi signal.

It won’t connect to my phone. I tried 5 times yesterday and each time got the GF didn’t connect, retry msg.

I just tried the phone again and it connected on the 3rd try; waiting to see what it does. It’s in centering again.

It’s staying connected so I’m going to run the calibration and try to reconnect to my normal wifi. I hope it sticks this time. I’d have to put the modem inside the GF to get them any closer!

Thanks for the push @beerfaced; I was at my wit’s end, for real!

Good luck. The GF is picky about wifi signal strength. If it works with your phone then there is something it doesn’t like with the modem.

Hello, @mswashu I am very sorry you are still running into issues with the Glowforge printer connecting to Wi-Fi. I just wanted to let you know that I did send another email to you. I am in the process of reviewing this information with my Wi-Fi specialist on the team. I am going to close this thread to mitigate any miscommunication or confusion in this case. I will be keeping a close eye on our emails and you should be expecting another reply shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
