no matter what settings I enter.. NOTHING shows up. bought on Amazon
Welcome to the community, we likely can help you out!
What machine do you have?
What material are you using?
What design are you printing?
What settings are you using?
Have you gone through the tutorial?
have used several different settings.. Glowforge Aura. Absolutely nothing is engraving
Even the performance machines can not mark metal. The only things that work are pieces that are anodized - the laser can burn out the dye - or marking sprays like cermark which can be “baked” on by the beam.
Significantly more powerful commercial machines can engrave on some metals.
You need a fiber laser to engrave/emboss metal. The Aura is a diode laser.
Are those metal? If so they’re not going to work in any Glowforge. You need an entirely different type of laser tech.
The GF machines - C02 or diode - don’t have enough power to engrave metal challenge coins. However, I have created/ordered dozens of challenge coins and have found a way to personalize them. In my design, I have an area that I have the manufacturer fill with enamel paint. I then use the GF Pro with coins in a jig to laser the names through the paint. I did a challenge coin for my 50th high school reunion and was able to give everyone (about 100) a coin personalized with their name. Just a suggestion.
That sounds interesting. Can you tell me about this manufacturer? Do you have a pic of what you’ve been able to do with them? Really sounds like something.
can’t find my coin to take a close up, but this is what I was talking about. The name is laser engraved in the paint-filled rectangle. I have done a lot of coins over the years and use a Chinese company called: Forever Emblem and Badge International, Ltd. (http://www.forever-eb.com/). As far as I can tell, almost all challenge coins are produced in China, but there are some US firms who act as a “middle man” and make ordering much easier. On the other hand, there is a fairly high premium for the ease of ordering. (I should also note that there are many Chinese companies to choose from, but I’ve found Forever Emblem to be a reliable source and easy to deal with)
