You who know me know that most things I do, I do with no regard to looks, but this one is different. When I sit down at my PC, I want to feel like I’m hurling through space at .9c headed to the great unknown.
For these consoles, I ordered a case of “True Flat” in black. Designed everything in Fusion, cut the panels from the True Flat, and 3d printed 3 of the 4 sloped panels. They are designed so that the tops and sloped panels are removable and replaceable. This was done because, at this point, I fully realize that everything about my setup is ephemeral.
I had the 15-key Stream Deck, the numeric keyboard, and the smaller keyboard. I purchased the 32-key as a module, knowing I’d put it in a console.
The 32 key has a page dedicated to the GFUI, including some items that aren’t normally hotkey-enabled. I did this with an AutoHotkey script.
As you can see, I need some custom keycaps for the numeric keyboard, and there are several things I want to do to the overall setup, including a faux window.
If you want the console files or anything else I did here, feel free to ask.
That’s the thing, since it all follows my personal logic, no matter how convaluted that may be to others, I always know just what to press and most everything is just two button presses from home and one once I’m working in a program.
Not at all. You could run your GF off of a Chromebook depending on how much of your own desgn work you wanted to do.
No, my desktop PC:
Keeps family finances
Runs two 3d printers
Runs the Glowforge
Runs a desktop CNC
Creates files for all of the above plus another CNC
Plays games occasionally
Keeps an inventory of my stuff
That is a very short list of what I actually do on it, but none of it puts a real strain on it except running Fusion.
The consoles are because, well, I wanted to.
The Stream Decks are called that because they were originally developed for people who live stream; I think of them as super colossal smart input/output devices. For any program I use more than once in a while, I set up shortcuts. I have literally dozens of shortcuts set up in Fusion.
