Created svg in inkscape but it still shows as bitmap

I need help please im super frustrated and have googled everything i can think of . I switched to inkscape, made the svg but it still shows as a bitmap in gf !! thank you for any help greatly appreciated !

An SVG file is just a container. It can contain bitmaps or vector images. Putting a bitmap into an SVG file doesn’t turn it into vectors – you have to trace the image for that. You can use the trace function in Inkscape, or a website like https://www.vectorizer.io/, or learn to use the pen tool and trace it yourself.

Thank you @ geek2nurse your absolutely correct!

Only SVG and PDF files can be used for cutting and engraving. JPG and PNG files can only be used to engrave. The SVG or PDF file needs to contain lines called “strokes”, which are turned into cuts.
