Cut outs with lines

I’ve searched for this particle issue and can’t find anything. I am cutting out simple circles and squares from glowforge - not anything I designed or uploaded. It comes up with 2 lines and cuts out one square inside the the other square. I saw some answers to this issue but not for anyone using the glowforge designs inside of glowforge itself. How do I get rid of the line outside of glowforge’s designs so I can cut out a simple circle or square? I tried ungrouping but it won’t allow me to choose that. And deleting just deletes the entire circle? This isn’t an outline I’ve done. It imports this way. ?? Anyone who can help?

Thank you

You might need to “break apart” the path object. But, I am not entirely certain what you are trying to do.

All I’m trying to do is cut out a square and circles on 1/8 Baltic. But my shapes have 2 lines instead of 1 line. My circle has one line but my squares have 2 lines?

Are you using the GFUI or are you using a separate application (i.e. Inkscape) to create the design?

I am guessing you are using the premium features (shapes) in the GFUI.

My guess is what you think is a square is not? It looks like a double outline with rounded corners.

Edit: I just tried it and it works for me… still not exactly sure how you go the double lines.

Instead of choosing from the + feature, select the shape and you will get circles, squares, polygons.

Click the icon and you will have the choice of shapes.

Ah! I think you are right. I was able to replicate her issue that way.

I was using the “shapes” feature, not the different patterns. But I do see a pattern in there that is double-square with rounded corners.

I am using the glowforge and I searched for squares and these came up. I didn’t realize I had to use the “shapes” in GF? Ok that makes sense. I’ll try that. I hope it gives me the option to create oblong?

Thank you !!

You can control the size and how rounded the corners are also. It should work for you.

When you create a square, if you hold down the shift key, you can make it any height/width you want (rectangle). One additional idea on your double lined squares…you can use outline and it will put an outline around the outer shape then you could delete the double lined one…

You can use the “Shift” key on the squares and circles from the GF shapes and drag an edge to make them rectangles and ovals. Works great.
