Cutting Depth

Attempting to print (cut) thru .125" proofgrade materials and the cut isn’t deep enough to complete the cut on the bottom of the material?

What setting should I change?

Are you holding things down solidly to the crumb tray? Warp and focus issues are the #1 diagnosis.

A couple time there was slight warp but other times the material is perfectly flat.

What do you mean by holding it down? I am just laying material on the crumb tray - are others using some form of clamp hold down clip?

We’re all using magnets. Search for “magnets” and you’ll find lots of suggestions and tips for safety and ease of use.

Thanks for letting us know. You shouldn’t have to change any settings.

To cut successfully, there are three important things to check. First, your material must lie flat. This requires a clean, properly installed crumb tray and flat materials. Second, there must be no obstructions, dirt, or damage preventing the laser light from reaching your material. Third, your design must be set up properly - for example, with lines that are fully on the material and that are set to cut. It’s hard to know which issue might be affecting your print, so please thoroughly inspect your unit and design according to the suggestions below.

It sounds like you’re all set for the first and third, so would you follow these instructions to inspect and clean your unit?

Once that’s done, would you do another print and let us now how it goes? Photos of the front and back are very helpful, as is the time and date of the print.

Hello!

We will do the cleaning and let you know. Did you understand that it’s cutting fine on the left side of the tray and poorly on the right? If it were dirty or blocked wouldn’t it impact the laser across the entire spectrum?

Hello!

We cleaned the everything per the manual instructions and there wasn’t any change in cutting patterns.

However in cleaning we noticed a slight discoloration in the lens on the side of the print head – almost looks like a burn. It’s at about 5pm if you think of that lens as a clock face!

Could that be the source of our problem?

Thanks - between here and email, you’ve done a great job of telling us what we need to know. Unfortunately, we recommend replacing the unit. I’ll be in touch by email.
