Alcohol can cause crazing in acrylics.

That came up a while back and after some discussion it appears that it was isopropyl alcohol. I have not seen such things in any I have done,
I would agree if it was “oh, it’s ok to run any reflective material in any laser without masking”. But erring on the side of masking is never a bad idea… may waste some extra masking, but doesn’t risk damaging the laser. Not unlike turning off the main breaker if you can’t verify the exact circuit vs. I don’t know if the power is still on, but I’ll go ahead and change out that fixture… Risk vs. reward.
