Anyone know what materials I would need to make display plaques like the one in this picture where it looks like metal and the writing is black on my glowforge? Thanks!

Two-tone acrylic. You would buy brushed silver & black, and laser the thin silver surface layer where you want the design to be. They make all kinds of color combinations.
