Double curvy box

#1

From JustAddSharks in instructables “laser cut parametric flex box generators”

Had a bit of an issue with size it seemed I needed to make it around 4x larger than I was expecting, but very cool!!

#2

Sadly I did not parametric the flex right  It broke on me :weary:

#3

Oh bummer! It looked really cool! :open_mouth:

#4

Bummer.

#5

Little arch box?

I spent quite a bit of time working with the flex box creator. It’s pretty good but you do have to test out the living hinges before committing. I went through a lot of material dialing them in.

#7

Yup that sounds like what I need to do :upside_down_face:

Just Add Sharks is our own @m_raynesford. Maybe he has some tips!

#9

Cool I hope this gets seen by him :slightly_smiling_face:

Cross linking to Martin’s post about the boxes here.

The flex needs to be much wider, the actual flex comes from the thin strips between the cuts.
My friend Patrick wrote something useful about the maths of it all but basically if you have longer links there is more to flex.
