Dymaxion Globe v1

#1

My 1st Dymaxion Globe. I used Medium Maple Plywood for the sides (etching with only 70% for power) and printed the connector parts on my Makerbot. The screws are M3x8mm black. My next globe will be even better I hope. I followed the plans from a Make project https://makezine.com/projects/laser-cut-dymaxion-globe/

Nicely done! Bucky would be proud. :sunglasses:

#3

I’ve still got to make one of those…that one looks great! :grinning:

#4

Oh, man. Gorgeous!

I really wanted to make this for my dad’s 96th birthday next week… but my 3D printer hasn’t arrived! He’s traveled everywhere but the Antarctic and still has a bad case of wanderlust.

Next year!

#5

I want to do this, but with a dodecahedron.

#6

This site has some great files to get you started: http://www.progonos.com/furuti/MapProj/Normal/ProjPoly/Foldout/Dodecahedron/dodecahedron.html

#7

Cool, now I just need the corner anchors. LOL

#8

Here are the corner anchors for all the shapes.

#9

I don’t need a 3d printer. I DON’T NEED A 3D PRINTER.

Repeat until I believe it.

#10

That generally doesn’t work.

#11

Oooooo, nice job!

#12

Right now prusa is running a survey and if you’re the 1000th responder they give you a free i3mk3

#13

Rocks, thanks.
