Eagle Wood Suitcase

Got a wood suitcase from goodwill. Gonna refurbish the inside later, but here’s the engraving

That looks amazing. Are you going to seal it with something or did you already?

Thanks. I think I want to leave it as is. It was already painted with durable paint. Probably 10 years+ old

Problem is you engraved past that.
Make an image on some scrap and rub it a bit. The burnt texture disappears without a clear coat skin protecting it.
Normally not needed, since these are made to be looked at, but if a project is going to be handled or carried a lot it will be a concern.

My items are sprayed & wiped down with wood and/or leather cleaner so the final color is embedded into the wood so it won’t wash away. I might come back later on with some matte acrylic or waterproofing spray but honestly don’t see it being an issue. I’ve had engravings last years without smearing or lightening

Have you thought about maybe doing dyed resin via a pipette in the engraved lines to make it pop?

Check Facebook marketplace. People are always selling old luggage.
