I have found just placing the acrylic only on the crumb board and cutting works the best.
I’m thinking of that because I’m not getting much flashback on the newspaper and the occasional edge where I didn’t get newspaper underneath haven’t shown any flashback that needed to be cleaned. But I didn’t want to burn 77 of them and have to deal with it if it did so I figured once I’m done with this order I’ll try some scrap to see how it works without newspaper.
i think it really depends on (a) your crumb tray (how dirty is it?) and (b) the acrylic itself.
my optix was clean and i didn’t worry much. the bf plastics clearance stuff is dirtier and it needs the back paper.
