Has anyone engraved a bible? I’m trying to figure out specifics on my options. What would the settings be? What materials are okay and not okay?
That would depend on exactly what material the cover is made from.
Wood, acrylic, chipboard/paper products, genuine (not fake) leather are all ok.
Fake leather and other synthetic materials are often composed of PVC, which will destroy your machine.
It would depend entirely what the cover was made of. Or you could make a jacket of leather and use that.
Thank you! If it was genuine leather do you know what settings would be?
Thank you!
They are built into the interface. Just select from the drop-down menu for proofgrade materials.
You will probably want to test on a sample first.
It doesn’t matter what you are engraving, it matters what material you are engraving. As for what materials are ok to engrave, you must avoid vinyl and insure the actual contents of anything you decide to engrave. Please read the Glowforge manual and additional online information regarding what is not safe to laser.
