Gotta say that all the hype about the Glowforge and what you can do with it comes to an end of you don’t spend an unreal amount of $50 per month or a one time yearly fee of between $263 or more. This is ridiculous when you spend $1,200 on the machine and $399 on the filter. Not happy
This is not accurate at all. You don’t have to pay for anything extra…you can learn to do your own designing, which is exactly what many of us here have learned to do.
I’ve had my Glowforge for 7 years and that’s not because of paying extra money every month or every year.
Would you be willing to help me with a few things… cutting puzzles, cutting out around the shapes of things etc
You absolutely do not need to purchase the premium subscription to get the full benefit and use out of your Glowforge. There are thousands of users that do not subscribe and are happily making all sorts of things. The premium tools can be time savers and helpful to those that wish to use them, and the free files are a benefit to many users, but certainly not a necessity.
I am sorry that you bought the Aura thinking it could be used for engraving 1/4" flat glass, and that you now think it can’t be used without the subscription. Your profile says that you have spent 6 minutes reading posts in the forum. I don’t know if that is the case or not, but I urge you to use the search function to identify topics you wish to learn about, work through the Glowforge tutorials, and spend some time reading through “Made on a Glowforge” for assistance.
Even when “Premium” was introduced and available for a free trial, I never used it except to test out the features to provide feedback.
I can certainly relate to needing a basic interface for people who are not into designing for themselves.
it’s really not a matter of my willingness to help you, but more so that you would benefit the most…and become the best that you can be… by doing what I (and many others) have done…and that is to start from the beginning to teach yourself. I knew absolutely nothing when I started but gradually learned by reading what others had done, doing my own testing, and by learning how to use a design app
That’s quite true i guess
Don’t the hobby machines have some ridiculous file size limitation unless you have Premium?
Yes, that’s ridiculous to. And it way limits what you can do with your machine. I wouldn’t buy another one or replace it
