Does anyone know if the engraving area is smaller than the cutting area? The reason I ask is that when I change a text layer from cut to engrave I get a message that says “no artwork”. If I shrink the image just a tad it’s fine to print. Or I can cut the entire thing without shrinking it and it does just fine.

Yes. You can see the engrave no-go areas shrink and expand as you change the speed of the engrave. With the line to line engraving, the head needs more room for deceleration so the area is a bit smaller than the cutting area.
