Engraving Speed with Vertical lines

Looking for some advice on shortening print time. I am engraving 4x6 plaques in acrylic which have an outline and some writing in the middle. The engrave take over 3 hours and i noticed most of the time was spent on the vertical lines with the print head going back and forth horizontally to engrave them. Just to test the time, I took out the vertical lines to check the print time and it was 1 hour. Is there any way to get the Glowforge to engrave the vertical line by moving up and down, instead of side to side?

Nope, but you could rotate your artwork and material 90 degrees.

No, but you could consider a defocused score or group of scores rather than engraving the vertical line if rotating doesn’t work for this design.

I worry about it lining up exactly. position seems a small bit off on my machine.

Does scoring cut vertically, i have not used it much.

Yes. Scoring is just like cutting. A defocused score will produce a wider line. Placing several together can mimic the look of an engraved area.

The defocused scoring method looks like it will work well. Thanks, i just did a test. Saves a ton of time on the print.
