You do not need glue but it helps, especially with the force of the gift card and the wooden spring mechanism. Pretty simple to put together, but let me know if you need more directions. A little wax or crayon on the pin and/or slide may help it slide easier.
This was cut using proof grade medium maple plywood all with normal settings.

The flowers go on the outside of the box. The little slider part gets sandwich in between the layers. The flowers snap into the slider. Hope that helps.
