I made two of these mini vintage Fender amps for my two sons’ birthdays. This is a replica of the amp that I dreamed about as a young teen when I started a rock 'n roll band with my buddy Paul. I found the Bluetooth speaker kit and created the cabinet using my Glowforge and traditional woodworking. The grill cloth is authentic from a vintage amp dealer. Sound is impressive, too!
Very nice build.
Wow, great work!
Fantastic!
I love everything about this project.
Thanks for the feedback. It was a kick trying to get the details right. My (grown) boys loved it – esp. since they knew it was nostalgic for me. I’m thinking a vintage mini radio may be next for some folks at Christmas this year.
They look excellent. The texture on the outside is perfect
Just looking at this, I can feel the air moving around me from a feedback-infused power chord.

Wow! Fantastic detail!
Very cool. I’m sure they loved them, they’re awesome!
Thanks. About the texture… I knew this was a key part of this build, along with the grill cloth. I experimented a bit and in the end used a can of Rustoleum spray rubber coating (Home Depot with the spray paint). I gave it a solid coating and let it dry. At that point it was fairly flat but it did a great job of hiding seams and rough edges. To get the stippled look I sprayed a second coat but this time I stood back about 5-6 feet and let the rubber droplets fall onto the previous coat. Voila! I had the look I was wanting. After drying, I followed that with a couple coats of black satin spray paint (the rubber coating is paintable).
I never would have thought that was anything but tolex lovingly applied to all those tiny pieces, if you hadn’t revealed your technique.
Where did you get the tiny amp corners and kickstand, if I may ask?
Looks fantastic!
Wow until I saw the USB thumb drive I didn’t realize how tiny these are. Amazing detail!
Wow. Truly impressive!
And such a clean shop to boot. Neat project.
The tiny amp corners were just a lucky find on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KG6HQHK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) The kickstands were fashioned from hanging file folder supports that I had in a drawer.
The base cabinet is about 8" long x 4.75" tall x 3.75" deep. The entire thing is made of thick draftboard with reinforcing posts in all the corners. The Glowforge made easy work of getting a perfect fit for the 2 speakers and control pod in the base cabinet.
