First project- Christmas ornament

My first project! Per my mom’s request, my great uncle’s house on Christmas ornaments for his kids. The house was sold this year. Had to learn photoshop and how to use my GF at the same time. Would love recommendations!

Very cool. Doesn’t get more unique than that!
Did you do both sides?

Nice first project!

Learning the software programs can often be a steeper learning curve than the GF itself! Alas I don’t do too much with photos–there are some tutorials out there if you search thru the forums. Often just lots of testing and patience is needed…

Once you get into more cutting work, Inkscape is a great program (and free) for creating SVG files, and can import images for engraving to make it easy to do the alignment in the file, rather than in the GF User Interface (GFUI–you’ll see that acronym a lot in the forums).

Welcome, you are off to a good start.

That’s a really fun project. It looks like acrylic, right? If so, acrylic engraves often look “better” if the picture is inverted, or “negative”. You might want to give it a shot and see if you prefer it.
