Thanks jamesdhatch. I may be screwed then. Here I am trying to get gifts done for Xmas and GF store shows they are out of stock on these cables and lid lights. Makes me think this is a common problem. But I have no idea how to get the parts I need. Even if I could afford a new machine, I would not get it in time. My daughter is trying to guide me through making a gift for her boyfriend, but I guess I will send her shopping instead. Sad situation.
It is the magic smoke joke. As many folk do not understand about electronics, they do understand that if they short out a chip there is a burst of smoke and it doesnāt work anymore. So rather than explain electronics the story goes that they say that magically confining the magic smoke to the chip is how it works. of course if you treat the chip wrong the magic smoke escapes and the electronics will no longer do the job. For those with limited understanding it is as good an explanation as any other. I speak of it as humor as those who do understand know what I am saying.
The brightness of the lid LED lighting is unrelated to the power of the laser itself, except if the main power supply was on its way out. If the LED lights are changing according to the lid position, that is just a coincidence.
Again, the tube itself is way past its expected life span, and no longer cutting as expected with clean optics simply indicates it has expired.
You can pour more money into minor repairs to get the lid lighting or camera working, but itās really a waste because you canāt change the laser tube - the machine itself will need to be replaced or possibly serviced by that 3rd party people are talking about.
If overpowered LEDs do not last long, but the bigger point is what is making them overpowered?
The Black cables are back-ordered but the board most frequently damaged is hereā¦
Also sold out. I donāt know if itās just the lights, The whole thing is behaving strangely now. I think I am going to have to send it to Wiregrass to get it diagnosed. I exchanged emails with GF support on Sunday and he was mostly clueless about⦠well, everything. But he said my logs showed a communication error between the logic board and the print head. But he also said something about the āyellow buttonā error, which I have not had, so he may have had me mixed up with another support case. Point is, GF support may not be helpful going forward, and I may need an expert to actually look at the unit. All I know is I canāt afford a new one right now.
