Both or? There is quite a difference as mahogany usually flames very easily and cherry does not. The skin on Luan plywood is so thin it is not an issue but three plys of basswood(?) in between is usual, I have not seen 2 ply.

One bunch of the is .021" of cherry veneer (2 pieces glued together for a total thickness of .042") and the other bunch is made from mahogany veneer with the same process.

That is a very interesting thought!
I used a thin layer of wood glue on each piece. Let the glue dry, then use a medium-hot iron to affix the two layers.

They turned out great! (And Iām going to have to try that gluing technique.)
