Help!!! my glowforge is engraving words twice, and scoring is not working as well.

This always turns out to be a subtle problem with the artwork. They are easy mistakes to make if you are new to this.
Use vector view mode if you have it and zoom way in. Do you see two lines right next to each other?
Try ungrouping the artwork and dragging the pieces apart. Do you have identical copies right on top of each other?
It’s bound to be something like that.

Ok I’ll Try that now but even when I score its not readable.

Welcome to the forum.
If you mean the print is distorted, you may have a problem with your belt tension. Perhaps you coulld share a photo of your prints so we could see the problem.

Ok will try this also, I will have to try tmrw I don’t have the thing to tighten it with. Thank you for your suggestion.

If you have never loosened the bolt to remove the carriage plate, you should not have to tighten it. If this double engrave began after you changed something, it could be the belt.
