Oh, there used to be a roughly 3.5 hour job time limit due to the buffer size, but they recently upgraded that for all the machines and we can run much longer jobs now. That’s probably what you were thinking of. 
Not on acrylic, but on PG ply, I set an engrave to 2 passes to embed a magnet. I got a warning that my settings were not correct for the type of material being used and that it could cause a fire. I was guessing the same thing…that since I tweaked the PG settings, it was that second pass.
