Glowforge in a classroom

Thanks for the link for sliceform studio. The patterns look like they would be a good introduction of protein structure. Proteins are oddly shaped, but still form crystals. Showing odd shapes that still make an overall pattern in 3-D is so abstract, many college students don’t get it. It’s easy to imagine simple cubic crystal packing, but imagining a “blob” of protein doing the same thing is hard.

Sliceform and a laser cutter would work great to explore complex crystal structures!

Thanks for your comment. It can be difficult when you fix one barrier to learning, only to have another barrier crop up!

I am western Idaho. May be close enough to collaborate on something somewhere along the lines.

And yes… @henryhbk’s idea of an educator section for the forums would be phenomenal.
