Just got off the phone with two people from tech support. The best they can offer is a rebuilt forge with a 90 day warranty. I will have to shell out another grand for a 90day warranty on a refurbished machine? unbelievable. I barley used this forge. So they tell me I can sell this one to a friend for parts? I really can’t afford to lose a friend. I am so angry that I got sucked into the Glowforge never ending drain on my wallet. I will not recommend this forge for anyone. Unbelievable sadness today. There is no way out of the glowforge jungle unless I scrap a 6000 dollar machine and buy something with better customer service and a longer warranty than 90 days.
Sorry you are upset. The Glowforge warranty is and has been clearly stated since they began selling machines. If you have owned yours since November 2020, your warranty expired long.
There are repair options available for some Glowforge mechanical issues should you care to try and repair your machine.
I know there is a limited warranty, and it is clearly stated. I am talking about the service and their way to get you to spend more money. They didn’t even try to help fix it they just say well we will sell you another piece of crap that some other sucker returned. I barley used my forge. Maybe have 70 hours on it if that. They won’t help fix it unless I spend another 1600 bucks. I am glad some people have that kind of money to blow on a rebuilt machine. I do not. It is a boat anchor at this point. I will not recommend a GF to anyone. 6000 dollars what a waste.
Their last announcement included the name of a private repair facility. Also, should you care to state your problem, other users may have repair suggestions.
As I understand it, from what they know the repair and shipping would cost them $1600. For those repairs that the customer can do, there are replacement parts available. As @dklgood noted you could deal directly with the repair company, perhaps pay more, and wait a month or two before getting that original machine back indistinguishable from the repaired machine you could have in a week. Compared to Keurig that will only sell you a new machine at retail, and the machine that you can only see inside if you use a saw Glowforge is not bad.
