Going over cut twice

I have a drawing from Inventor, exported as a .pdf and opened it in Adobe Illustrator. I highlighted it, object>flattened transparency, and pathfinder>outline. I wasn’t able to “trace logo” under quick actions like in the past. When I ran it on the laser it went over everything twice even though the path was set to one.

There are two lines or the Glowforge would not make two passes. Open your file, zoom in and look on outline mode. You will see two lines.

When they do have two lines I’ll ungroup them and delete the second. This is a line drawing that I created without the double line. I double checked to make sure there was only one pass as well. Thanks for your response.

Sometimes creating a line is not a single line - it has an outside stroke and an inside stroke. If you created a vector path with a center line, you will only have one line. The Glowforge interface doesn’t make stuff up. Zoom in very close on your design and inspect it in outline mode. There will be two lines.

Many times an object is not fully enclosed, Magic Canvas for example is very bad about not closing loops so a double line can become a single line that goes around twice and even breaking it up will not fix it, You have to go in and dig.
If, in node mode, you delete the line after picking between two nodes and it looks like nothing happened then you have found such a line. If, in node mode, the nodes look smaller than normal you have found such a line. If when cutting the cut goes over itself in the opposite direction then you have found such a line.
