This is so awesome! This type of project is my favorite way to use the GF ~ memorializing special moments. 
I always say that if I had my GF when my kids were little I would have gone crazy ~ engraving all their art, voice sound waves, etc. etc. A good project for when I finally retire one day…

So, I understand how to make a sound file, like in adobe or some other recording software. How do you then get the waveform in an engravable format?

Probably just taking a screenshot of the software like Audacity or something and saving it as a png/bmp.
