I’ll start. For us it’s the next season of life with my wife and best friend as we explore our 50s, being empty nesters, and celebrating with our kids in the next season of their life’s

I am excited to move to a new home about 1200 miles away and get involved in a new community. I am hopeful that this will be my last cross country move.

Huh, big move. Where to?

Adjusting to ‘almost’ retirement! Looking forward to hiking, camping, etc. with my husband while we’re able! Also enjoying my 8 grandchildren with one more due in May!

Happiest of New Years to you all!

I’m looking forward to a time with no surgeries…or any medical stuff at all for at least a while. I had surgery for a kidney stone in September, and am still recovering from a total replacement of my left hip on Dec.3rd. My right hip and also my right knee are next in line, but I’d really enjoy some respite for a while.

I’m hoping to get back to work. I scratched most of my itches and the work I did, and the new direction I plan for, give me more satisfaction but one - I want to get back to flying as well.

I have given it away in other threads. April 25th is my last day to be an employee where I work. I’m so looking forward to retirement.
60 more shifts then a world of possibilities. If I can be just half as productive as some of you,I’ll be happy.
Lots of home restoration, lots of model aircraft to build and fly.

What sorts? I’ve been intrigued by a lot of ardupilot projects I’ve seen recently.

hoping to get my mom moved into independent living in the first month or two of the year (was hoping it would have happened in the last two months, but it’s taking longer than i hoped).

once mom is settled, we can get back to looking at fixing the things we need to in our house to sell it and move to a place that’s more suited to our lives over the next 10-15 years (a driveway, maybe a garage, a bigger/nicer kitchen, and a better office/crafting space.)

thinking good thoughts for my company’s next revaluation in february. we’re an ESOP (employee owned) and a lot of my 401k is company stock. more big years means retiring earlier (or at my current planned date with more $$).

and hopefully building more guitars. have one still on the boards (need to finish the headstock insert).

Happy New Year everyone!

We have looked for over a year for a single story home, more garage, finished basement, covered outdoor space, larger maker space (rather than having something in every room), nice kitchen, lots of light, and on a nice level lot. Prices are up, interest rates are up, real estate taxes are crazy, and we want to stay very close to where we are due to grandchildren.

Starting to lose hope on finding that home.

So, I’m going to look forward to reading more after many years away from doing so. Learning to play the guitar, which I tried as a teenager. Planning and executing my maker projects ahead of events and needs. Definitely want to make more!

I fly fixed wing exclusively, mostly LOS but I do have a set of FPV goggles.

So far I don’t have much interest in flight controllers but who knows what the future holds on that.

Most of what I have made so far is from foam board but I want to go larger and experiment with other materials. Maybe combine plywood, 3d printing and shrink covering? Maybe insulation foam?

Love it. Get a hot wire cutter

Hot wire is definitely in my field of vision.

I’ll be celebrating my 20th anniversary this year, so I’m looking forward to that trip. Plus my sister and her husband should be moving here in the spring so I’ve got that to look forward to as well.

Mostly I’m keeping fingers crossed about a whole bunch of things

That’s cool, Mark. I used to be editor of an electric flight magazine - hence my username “e - fly - guy”. I completely let go of it all when my best friend and fellow competitor died several years back.

I had a 12’ sailplane that could launch to around 1500’ in 45 seconds. Also some “race” models that could fly well over 150mph - but those were just “for fun”, I only competed with sailplanes (and combat)…

I knew you had taken it a lot farther than I had, but I didn’t know it was that much farther!

I am so sorry, even though this is in the past that is profound.

There is no wrong answer but you might think about dabling in it again.

I’ve never competed nor will I, this is just something to keep my sanity. I’m not even very good but I enjoy some less-than-perfect aerobatics.

Are there archives of the magazine?

It was online, and morphed into RCGroups.com. None of the old stuff (it was called “ezonemag” at the time) exists now. I don’t even remember the other magazines I wrote for - they are long gone anyway.

Happy New Year!

I’m looking forward to an anniversary trip with my husband (30 years!), and hopefully finding more time for creative projects.
