I have had my machine three years. I went to use it and received the head not found error. I have replaced the black cable, the white camera cable, cleaned, cameras, and top of the head itself. I have tried the trick of putting the head under the camera and still nothing. I checked the lid PCB board located at the back of the machine and it looks fine. I have checked the carriage plate and all wheels are fine and it is installed correctly. The last thing I have to try is replacing the ribbon cable going to the head, but Wiregrass is currently out of stock. Does anyone have any other ideas of things to try that maybe I am missing? The only solution Glowforge offered was to send it in for repair or buy a new one. If this machine only last three years why would I ever consider buying a new one??? I have been without a machine for almost a month now during the busy season. Please help!!!
When I replaced the black cable it was not working until I double checked the connectors. Two of the connections were almost but not quite right. When I fixed one it still did not work and I was tearing my hair out. When I went through them all again the second settled right and I could hardly believe it was working.

so your lid camera is clean.
I would try this. before you power it up. move the head to below the camera. then turn it on. that helped me once before.

As I stated in my initial post I have already tried that.
I have adjusted all the cables multiple times. I can assure you this isn’t the issue.
dang totally missed that.
Can you check the “new” cables for continuity? to make sure they are really working?
