Heavy Cardstock cleanup?

Hi everyone,

I’m making led lit shadow boxes for friends/family as a holiday card.

Question: I’m using 300gsm white cardstock. I’ve seen a few things in the forum, but is there a best practice for reducing/cleaning char off the paper? White shows off every smudge, so I’m trying to find at least a way to clean the outside edges to reduce the chance of smudging the layers.

Any thoughts/advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I’ve seen posts saying a cotton swab and a little bleach will do the trick. There’s also some good advice floating around in Beyond the Manual regarding using engrave to cut through paper rather than cut/ score, and also about using multiple low power passes to reduce char.

I also sanded cardstock with 1000+ grit sandpaper, it removed the surface smoke residue perfectly.
